My Whirlwind Week--Nov. 17, 2006

Okay, so Wednesday I ended up pretty much just getting the grocery list/menu taken care of as well as the shopping. I had to shop also for our co-op cooking class. We needed everything for a Thanksgiving dinner. At least something got done! Wednesday night Tim and I were supposed to be home alone as Alyssa was going to help with AWANA just for this week, but Jenna ended up having too much homework and had to stay home so she was home with us. After a dinner of Skillet Tamale Pie (yummy, by the way and really quick) I took those who needed to go to AWANA and came home to be with Tim. We watched a movie (sadly, I can't even remember what it was) and during the middle of it I picked the girls up from AWANA and we both stayed awake through the whole thing. That is truly a rarity in our household...usually one or both of us falls asleep.

Thursday was really crazy! I did get up and worked out...did the elliptical machine for 30 minutes. Tim took Jenna to school and then I got ready to go to Bible Study. Sammy, Tara and I all went because this was our Thanksgiving Dinner day for co-op. The cooking class kids I have been teaching this semester were going to cook their Thanksgiving Dinner. Sammy and Hunter (the other teacher's daughter) got started on the turkey and cranberry sauce and they went ahead and made the stuffing. They did a pretty good job with little help, although, the stuffing did have too much liquid in it and was really goopy. Bible Study was great today! We talked about David and Goliath and the application I got from it was the "five smooth stones". Who would have thought that God would have used a stone to kill Goliath? Doesn't a spear or sword make more sense? But he used a stone and David and he did it to show the world that He was the Lord of Israel. Isn't it the same with our giants...namely, for me, my house right now? We don't know how we are going to finish it in the time and with the money we have left, but God directed us to do this and He won't fail us. He will somehow use our time, talents and money to help us finish it and we will be able to share how the Lord did this in our lives and "show the world that He is Lord". It's kind of exciting and scary at the same time, but that needs to be my focus....not so much how will we do this, but how will He do this?

Our co-op Thanksgiving dinner

Anyway, to digress from my ramblings...our dinner turned out fine and the kids had a good time. We also had salad, corn, vegetable garnishes and pies. That is one thing over for the season. Anyone who is reading this....if I tell you I am thinking about volunteering to do anything extra next semester, will you remind me that I need to say a resounding NO! This class would have been so much more fun had I not been in the middle of finishing this house, having to drive Alyssa around to work, school, etc., doing the Christmas Musical, and everything else I have on my plate right now. Next semester I would just like to take some time off and have time to get settled and enjoy my house and time with my husband and family.

Today I did get in another workout...Woo Hoo! I did upper body lifting again today. Alyssa had to be to school at 6:30am to be on a promotion board for ROTC. I got to the gym early and then got home early. She had to stay through lunch so she could practice again and do uniform prep. I went over to the house this morning to meet with the closet guy and he had already been there, talked to Tim and left. It was okay because they were putting the gutters on the outside of the house and I could write the check to them. After I got home I did a few things around the house and got Sammy and Tara ready to go to a "Stuff-a-Friend" activity for homeschooling. No, we weren't feeding their friends until they burst...it was a kind of "build-a-bear" type thing where they got to make a stuffed animal. Tara had a great time and made a stuffed kitty in a princess costume.

Tara is on the right with her kitty, Isabella

After that we went to take Alyssa to Drill Team practice (I will be glad when the season is over next month) and Sammy and I went to the mall because we only had about an hour. She got the second piercing in her ears she has been begging for. I told her she had to get all her schoolwork done for nine weeks and show great responsibility (we were more specific than this) in order to get this. By the time we were done there we had a minute to go to the Apple store (I want to get a FM Transmitter for my iPod and I wanted to see what they had....nothing) and picked up the girls. I took them all home and then went to the grocery store to get our turkey for Sunday. Yes, I know it is a little late and I will have to thaw it with the cold water method, but it will work. I got the turkey for $.27/lb with a $50 purchase and since I needed to reload my gas card I did that. I got two unbaked pizzas for dinner (they are $14 for 2) and came home. Jenna and Alyssa have a mandatory sleepover (how can they really make this mandatory?) for Drill Team and so I will take Jenna at 6:30pm and then take Alyssa to work at 8pm, pick her up at 11:30pm and take her to the sleepover then. This is actually okay because otherwise I would have to have them to the Drill meet tomorrow at 7am and it is 30 minutes away so I would have to leave at 6:30am. I will go later in the day when they are performing.

Tim is still working on the house now (it's almost 6:30) and I think his phone battery has died because I can't get ahold of him. We will have our pizza for dinner when he gets home and then watch movies. Alyssa will call me right before they get done cleaning up at work and I will pick her up so I need to stay awake (haha, she will probably wake me up when she calls like usual).
