A Quiet? Sunday--Nov. 12, 2006

Yesterday (I am posting this Monday) was Sunday. Now, I love Sundays that we go to church, come home and just kind of hang out. It was not to be so yesterday. Well, it started out well. We all got ready and headed to church. Now that I am not singing every week, we can't seem to be on time in getting there, but we were only 5 minutes late. I hate that! Church was pretty good. We are doing a lot of revamping of everything with our new pastor and inter-generational vision for our church and he wants to have six different music teams. The only problem is that it means that none of the teams really get enough practice together and it is really showing. After the first of the year they are going to reassess and our music pastor would like to decrease the number of teams so we all get to lead worship and practice together more often. That would mean combining some of the teams too, which could be kind of fun. The sermon was good, though. It was on money and where is our treasure. Now, our finances are in fairly good order (I do need to revamp the budget for when we move), but it got me thinking about where I spend my time more than my money. We have talked some on my homeschool email loop about "tithing our time" and I think this is such a great thing. I need to think and pray more about my schedule and go over where I am "wasting" time and could spend it better. Not just on Bible Study, etc., but on spending time with my family and other places I know God would want me to spend it.

After church and the weekly "child hunt" (trying to gather everyone up in one area) Tara, Tim and I came home and Alyssa, Jenna and Sammy walked home. Lest you think I am abusing my children, we only live a mile from the church and the weather was pretty nice. I love living this close to church! Our new house is twice as far (okay, so that's only two miles, but still). The one thing I have learned is that it doesn't matter how close you live to the church, if you don't leave before activities start, you will still be late. LOL Tim and I watched the 49er game (I really love TIVO) and they even won. We started to watch the next game, but knew we needed to run a few errands. We went to look at some new model homes at the bottom of our hill. We love to look at new houses and get decorating ideas! Also, we had to go to the mall and talk to some of the stores about doing a promotion with the 49er cheerleaders who would like to come up the weekend after Thanksgiving and sell calendars for their charity. Every store in the mall is a big corporation and would have to get it "okayed with corporate" to have them come, but we did find one little kiosk that is locally owned and they were going to check and let us know today. After that we went to Home Depot and got some ceiling fans and light bulbs for the new house. We woudn't have gotten them now except that they were giving 10% off to military and since Tim is in the Air Nat'l Guard, he got the discount. After Home Depot, we went home and got Sammy to take her to church for children's choir. She is helping with the choir this year since she is too old to sing now. After dropping her off, we went over to our new neighbor's house to take them a rosemary plant to thank them for letting us stay in their loft last week. We are going again soon and will stay there again. I will try to get some pictures. We ended up staying and visiting with them until 10:30pm! Sammy had gotten a ride home from choir and so we didn't have to pick her up and just visited. I was getting so tired at the end of the visit, my eyes were drooping. Tim has had a chance to witness to her and invite her to church with us and we are going to ask them to come to the Christmas Musical in a few weeks. It's amazing the opportunities he gets to witness by just doing what he is doing!

I will try and get some new pictures of the house today to post.

Sounds like you had a busy Sunday. I'm like you, I love having a quieter, more relaxed Sunday.
