Snow Day--Jan. 5

Well, I didn't have time to post yesterday because I spent all day taking down Christmas decorations on the stage at the church before a memorial service so we were really rushed, but got it done and then in the afternoon I ran to Walmart to make sure we had everything we would need for the weekend because a huge snowstorm was predicted to hit. It rained and rained all day and we got a record 1.63" of rain. I know that is not much for many of you, but for us it is HUGE. There was flooding and everything (not in my neighborhood, but in the area). Later on that evening the snow came and the flakes were HUGE! I sent everyone home early because I knew the driving would be precarious.

Today we woke up to a foot of snow! After my daily email to Tim and the wind had died down I got out and shoveled....and shoveled....and shoveled. Thank goodness my neighbors came over to help snow blow the driveway while I shoveled walks. We got it all done and it wasn't too bad, but then it started getting windy again and snowing harder.
After we had finished the driveway and walks

A few hours later....

We did get to let ours and the neighbor's dogs out to play for a little bit before it got too bad.

Some kids had come over to our house to watch "Hairspray" and I sent them home as soon as it was over before it got too bad. Jenna and Sammy went out and took some pictures after they left.

Here is a picture of what it looked like in the afternoon. I am so glad we had snow blown and shoveled what we did. Otherwise, we would have even more to do tomorrow and it would be an icy mess.

I am not sure that we will make it to church tomorrow because I may be snow blowing/shoveling us out in the morning and it takes a few hours. I am supposed to be there at 7:30am to sing and Alyssa is supposed to have a solo for one of our worship songs and she is really sad, but safety is the most important thing.
