Tim is Home...Safe and Sound

I haven't posted for the past few days because we were madly cleaning and getting ready for Tim to arrive home. As much as I missed him, ten days went by really quickly and I wanted to finish so much more while he was gone. Oh well, I am just so glad he got home safely.

Tim trying on authentic Turkmenistan clothing...he thinks he is sooo funny!

I can reveal a little more about his trip now. Tim was in Turkmenistan with the Air National Guard teaching them firefighting "stuff". It was a very long trip over (32 hours), but he had a fun time. He was pretty busy, but did have time to go to an outdoor market and they seem to have spent a lot of time "schmoozing" with the high up mucky mucks over there. They are coming here later on this year to learn some more about firefighting. His trip back was a little shorter, but he has decided that the next time we go on a long trip, we should see about upgrading our seats with our mileage. This is so funny because I hve said this for years, but he never listened to me. He just thought I had been spoiled because when I was a kid, my dad flew for the airlines and we flew space available, but got to fly first class quite often. I had told him how much better this was, but he wouldn't ever listen. We do have a mileage credit card and have racked up a ton of miles with building this house so we are looking to make a long "fun" trip sometime soon and now he is even thinking it would be okay to upgrade to business class. Woo hoo!

Our new rug!

Since all of our floors are concrete, we have wanted to get rugs for some of the areas of our house. Tim got this rug for us when he was over there. He had it shipped here and it should be here in a week to ten days. Of course, if it is anything like our blinds, it will be here in....maybe....a month. We are still waiting for those and they are on backorder. I will need to call next week..again...and see where they are and, possibly, get something to "make do" until the wedding is over.

This next week is going to be crazy. I have been weeding at least an hour every day and otherwise working on getting the house ready. Today I waxed the floor in our bedroom and even moved some of the lighter furniture and other stuff. It took quite a while, but I am happy with the results. I figure if I can wax part of it every day I will have it all done by the time of the wedding.

I hope your window treatments come in time for the wedding, but if they don't I'm not sure I would go to the effort and expense of trying to put something up to "made do"... afterall.. people will mostly be there enjoying the wedding, right?

Do you have to wax your floors very often or is this a one time thing you just haven't gotten to yet? Just wondering... they must be "real" hardwood and not laminate? I bet they're beautiful!

Oh, very neat that Tim found the perfect rug! I expect we'll be searching for those soon, and it's not something I look forward to.

What a relief to have him home safe and sound.

Welcome home, Tim! Love the new look. :) The rug is gorgeous. There are so many details that go into building a house - you all have been very hard working and patient.

The wedding is almost here!!! Are you ready???
